Harehills, Leeds

Tangram Housing Cooperative is situated in the Harehills area of East Leeds, with the office and communal garden being on Bankside Street and many of our properties in the streets surrounding it.

We are a Registered Social Landlord regulated by the Tenant Services Authority. This means that any vacancies are allocated on the basis of housing need.

Run by the Tenant Members

The Cooperative is run by the tenants with support from two part-time workers.

As a tenant, you enjoy the following advantages: cheap rent, a centrally heated flat or house, a repairs service, the control of being your own landlord, and a friendly and welcoming community that cares for its members.

In return for this, we expect you to be prepared to volunteer for various tasks. Members are asked to attend general meetings every couple of months, which usually last around an hour. Meetings are where members vote to make decisions about running the cooperative, or to vote in new members or property allocations.

As a member you’ll be asked to help out with a group or sub committee where you can. These run adhoc, or once every fortnight and sometimes require some work from home. Our groups are supported by our workers, however we encourage as many people to be involved as possible. Many hands make light work!

Communal Rooms

As a tenant member, you have access to the communal rooms which can be booked out for meetings and events whenever you need.

We also occasionally book the space out to external bookings. Any money raised from these bookings supports Tangram’s ongoing costs.

There is a bookings calendar and bookings are taken on a first come first serve basis, with tenant bookings being prioritised.
